Evan though the FTP daemon is missing from OS X 10.7 ?Lion?, the FTP daemon is still actually there.
Apple removed the System Preferences GUI, so we have to start / stop the FTP service from the Console. Start the service: sudo /usr/libexec/ftpd -Dstop the service: sudo killall ftpd
